Multi-language packaging — EU labelling for merch in Poland

What labels are mandatory on corporate merch shipped to Poland — including CLP for cosmetics, REACH for textiles and electronics, CE / RoHS for power banks, food-contact for drinkware, and which languages must appear on the pack.

The four labelling regimes that hit merch

Most corporate merch in Poland falls under one or more of four EU labelling regimes: (1) CLP Regulation 1272/2008 for any cosmetics, hand sanitisers, lip balm or fragranced products — requires hazard pictograms, ingredient list and emergency-contact text; (2) REACH Regulation 1907/2006 for textiles, leather and electronics — requires declaration of any SVHC (Substances of Very High Concern) above 0.1% by weight; (3) CE marking + RoHS Directive 2011/65 for any product with a battery, motor or electronic component — power banks, Bluetooth speakers, USB drives, LED lamps; (4) EU 1935/2004 + 10/2011 for food-contact materials — mugs, bottles, lunch boxes, cutlery.

Language requirements for packaging in Poland

EU law requires that mandatory consumer-safety information appears in the official language(s) of the member state where the product is sold. For Poland, the local official language is mandatory on safety information; bilingual (local + English) or trilingual packaging (local + English + a second EU language) is increasingly common because it reduces SKU complexity for multinational brands. For B2B corporate merch — where the recipient is an employee or partner, not a consumer — labelling rules are slightly more relaxed, but care symbols on textiles and CE / RoHS on electronics are still mandatory.

Care symbols on textile merch

The five ISO 3758 care symbols (washing, bleaching, drying, ironing, professional cleaning) are mandatory on every textile item placed on the EU market. They must be sewn into the garment (not just on a hangtag) and accompanied by the fibre composition declaration per Regulation 1007/2011 — for example "100% cotton" or "80% cotton, 20% polyester". For a corporate polo shipped to Poland, you also need the size label and the country-of-manufacture declaration ("Made in EU", "Made in Türkiye", etc.).

Poland customs and tax notes

VAT 23% is added; from 2026 invoices route through KSeF (Krajowy System e-Faktur), the Polish national e-invoice platform under the Ministry of Finance. For intra-EU shipments to Poland, packaging labelling is checked at the receiving warehouse rather than at the border — but a customer-side audit can still flag non-compliant goods. For imports from outside the EU (China, UK), customs may detain shipments missing CE / RoHS or with incorrect language labels. Our Warszawa hub applies compliant labelling before dispatch via DPD Polska / InPost / DHL Express, which removes this risk.

Custom inner-packaging — making the unboxing match the brand

Beyond compliance, the inner packaging is the first physical brand touchpoint. Options for Poland runs: branded kraft mailer boxes with custom 1-colour print (MOQ 100, €1.20–3 each), tissue paper with full-colour brand print (MOQ 500), branded stickers / seals (MOQ 250, €0.10 each), printed inserts (MOQ 100, €0.50 each), wooden gift boxes with magnetic closure for premium tiers (MOQ 50, €8–22 each). Custom packaging adds 5–7 working days and is finalised after the merch itself is approved.
